Parent Seminars

Respect for parents is one of the key values of Kidzmix.

We recognize that parenting is a huge job, and parents require support - which includes access to information and resources.  And we know that finding that information and those resources can sometimes almost seem like a game of ‘Hide and Seek’.  And that’s not OK.

Kidzmix aims to bridge that gap and make accessible the latest information – based on quality research and reliable informaton – about how parents can help their child develop the social and emotional skills that will be a protective factor for their child’s life long mental health.  Because everything starts with mental health.

We believe that helping parents and children is our job – and we’re committed to it.  And so beginning in 2011, we will be launching a series of parent workshops about how parents can assist children to develop the social and emotional skills which will lay down the foundation of psychological health.

The workshops will be based around ”The 4th ‘R’- Relationships ” As Important as Reading, Writing and Arithmetic” - the latest book of Helen Davidson, Founding Director of Kidzmix.  The workshops will explore:

  • The 13 core social and emotional skills that make a difference to every child’s life
  • Practical and fun ways for parents to coach these 13  social and emotional skills
  • How to use “The 4th ‘R’ – Relationships” to help your child achieve psychological resilience

The seminars will be held on Saturdays to make them accessible for both parents.  Evening seminars are also planned towards the end of 2011.   The date for the first seminar is:

Saturday 18th June 2011

Time: 9.30 am to 2.30 pm

Venue: To be advised

Cost: $150 per person; $175.00 per parent couple
