Seminars

In the age of information explosion, it’s hard to find a parenting seminar that specifically addresses how parents can develop children’s psychological resilience and positive mental health.

Although an awareness of the potential for children to experience mental health difficulties is slowly emerging, it’s difficult for parents to locate practical information about the resources and strategies that they can build into everyday life to foster their child’s development of “positive mental health habits”. How to help the shy child become less anxious; how to teach all children to self-soothe from anger or excitement and how to learn to ignore distractions and irritations, are all skills that can be developed over time. Because all parents want their child to have these skills, but in the hurly burly life of parenting, opportunities to instil them can go unnoticed.

Commencing on 6th May 2012 Helen Davidson will be holding her first parent seminar for parents on how to develop children’s social and emotional competence. One of Helen’s core beliefs is that “parents are the therapists, and that the therapist’s job is to show parents what is the difference that will make a difference to their child’s mental health.”

The seminars will explore Helen’s latest book “The 4th ‘R’ – Relationships” As Important as Reading, Writing and Arithmetic, in which the 13 core skills for social and emotional competence are explored, together with numerous practical ways to coach the skills. Every couple or individual attendee will receive a free copy of Helen’s book.
